Concept Bike

This appeals to me on the basis that it bears an uncanny resemblance to the Sgt Major robot from Terrahawks.

Man, I loved that robot, I used to have the toy when I was young, but I lost it. It still irks me to this day.

Dedication GOOD...

Subject of said dedication, well, dubious.

As a fellow geek, I give props where it's due, what it's worth I'm not so sure.

We should have people like this attempting to cure cancer. Then again, if it were as easy as playing a game, I spose he might just give it a go ; )

Make Yer Own Cahier

Notebooks are an unhealthy obsession of mine, they spill out from all directions in my flat. I just can't help buying them. It's like I feel obliged to take them home and fill them with something meaningful. Which is all well and good however fashionable notebooks happen to be hideously expensive compared to plain ones and their functionality is of course the same.

Being able to make decent notebooks is a good money saver for someone like-minded. There's an excellent tutorial here http://thelongthread.com/?p=3750 detailing a great way to make your own. As a bonus, I might have finally found a use for that hand-held sewing machine I picked up from Urban outfitters in the January sales ; )

Typewriters...

Who doesn't love em?

Quite a few I suspect but then those are the sort of people who probably don't appreciate the warmth of tapes and the gorgeous irregularity of shoddily made 35mm film cameras either. Personally, I love typewriters, so much I collect the damn things, they are a source of practical beauty for me and serve another more surprising role of being the most engaging cat toy ever known to man. Even Mark Twain never got as immersed in a typewriter as my cat does. He hasn't written much yet, but I remain hopeful.

For those interested, I found a nice informal history of the typewriter lurking around on the IBM site, well worth a read for anyone who still harbours some love for the humble writing machine. Or anyone with ten minutes to kill, for no reason at all.
